Kirk Akina, Western Regional Sales Manager

Kirk, a.k.a. Capt. Kirk, was born and raised on the North Shore of Oahu (Hawaii) and is now residing in Southern California. He has been involved in the Food Business for over 17 years in various arenas (Broker, Distributor & Manufacturer). He represents Rhythm Superfoods as the Western Regional Sales Manager, also covering Chicago, Denver and Hawaii Markets. Kirk leads an active lifestyle. He enjoys working out, scuba and free diving, and surfing.

Kelly Bottenfield, Eastern Regional Sales Manager

Kelly has worked in the Natural Foods industry for 15 years.  From the aisles of Whole Foods Market, to beans and brews at Allegro Coffee, from the crunch of Food Should Taste Good to the refreshing delight of Spindrift, her work in retail, sales and marketing has given her all the perspective and passion she needs to champion natural and organic brands.  When not sounding the horn, Kelly enjoys snowshoeing, hiking, cooking, and most of all, travel.  Having grown up in Pennsylvania, lived in Boulder, CO and now Boston, MA, she has been all over the US, Europe, Central America, the Caribbean and is always on the lookout for the next great adventure.

Sarah Caddell, Marketing Director
Sarah joined the Rhythm team with over 7 years of consumer products marketing experience from Nike Inc and Adao Global.  Those experiences took her from Austin to Portland to Amsterdam to Switzerland.  Upon meeting the team at Rhythm and learning about their desire to bring healthy snacks to the forefront, she knew this was the team for her.  During her 4 years at UT, she fell in love with everything Austin (the food! the music! the people!) and decided this is where she wanted to stay.  When not working, Sarah enjoys running, hiking with friends, seeing live music, eating amazing foods, traveling, and writing in third person.

Clayton Christopher, Co-Founder & Board Member

Clayton Christopher is no first timer when it comes to taking amazing brands to the next level. As Founder and Former CEO of Sweet Leaf Beverage Company, Clayton knows potential when he sees it, and that was exactly what he saw in Rhythm Superfoods upon first learning about the company's mission and products.  Clayton adds years of experience to the team and has always been an endorser of healthy and active living (something evident in his interest in competitive cycling). As an active member of the Austin community, he can be found speaking regularly at universities and serves on the board of directors for the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Texas. He loves to travel and even spent eight months riding and camping through eastern and western Europe and the Middle East.

Becky Conces, Operations Director
Born in Battle Creek, Michigan (home of such companies as Kellogg's and Post), Becky, a.k.a. Miss Becks, knew from a young age that food manufacturing was in her future.  Her fate was sealed when she landed a job during college working in the W.K. Kellogg Institute for Food and Nutrition Research.  It was love at first bite!  She eagerly obtained a degree in Dietetics and has been working in food manufacturing ever since.  Becky finally found her "rhythm" in March of 2011 and has enjoyed working and sharing her wide variety of experience with the Rhythm Superfoods team.  When she isn't hard at work, you can find Becky hiking the "Hill of Life" with her blue heelers, eating at Guero's on South Congress or having a Mexican Martini at Trudy's! Delicious!

Calvin Daily, VP of Sales

Calvin grew up in a rural Midwest community with his 10 brothers and sisters.  Having older brothers and sisters work at Frontier Natural Products in his youth gave him a great introduction to the Organic and Natural Foods world.  Calvin has had the pleasure of working in the Sales Departments of such leading Organic and Natural Food Companies as Frontier Natural Products Cooperative, UNFI, Presence Marketing, and Organic Valley Cooperative.  When he is not spending time with his beautiful wife, 2 sons, and 2 dogs, he patiently waits for the San Diego Chargers to win their first Super Bowl.

Marie Franki, Office Manager

As a 7th generation Texan, Marie is proud to call this great state home, and live in the beautiful capital city of Austin. She believes in eating food that is good and good for you, and is delighted to be part of a company and team that champion that philosophy as well. Formerly the Program Coordinator of Incubation Station, a consumer product accelerator, and with her involvement with several other startups, Marie continues to live her entrepreneurial dream of working with a growing independent business. When not wearing one of her many professional hats at Rhythm, Marie loves dancing at Ballet Austin, camping, traveling, cooking delicious healthy meals, and lives on an urban farm with her husband, cat and 22 chickens.

Naseem Gilani, Staff Accountant

Naseem was born and raised in India and moved to US in 2008. She holds her CPA license in state of California. She has over two years of public accounting experience in K.K. Mehta CPA Associates, PLLC in New York and Flieller, Kruger, Skelton & Plyler, PLLC in Austin, TX where she dealt with high net-worth clients. Naseem is very excited to be a part of Rhythm Team. When not working, you will find Naseem watching cricket (her favorite sport) with her husband and spending time with her adorable little two-year-old daughter.

Janice Greenwald, VP of Brand Marketing

Janice joined Rhythm with over 10 years of marketing experience and a lifetime of enjoying delicious, healthy snacks. She previously worked on larger brands such as Sabra Hummus, Vaseline, and Lever 2000. When Janice met with the Rhythm team, she knew it was time to leave her NYC roots and venture down to Austin to help bring this amazing brand to more consumers around the world. New to Austin, Janice is embracing all that the city has to offer, from the amazing cuisine (even beyond BBQ and Tex-Mex!) to the live music. When not snacking on the new Superfood Chips (BBQ!), Janice is often traveling the world (favorite city: Buenos Aires), hiking, or volunteering with the homeless community.

Don Haga, VP of Operations

Don brings his knack for creating new solutions to Rhythm’s operations. A Virginia native, Don is a veteran of the Austin startup community. He manages Rhythm’s end-to-end supply chain, including raw material sourcing, food production, distribution and R&D. Don brings over 12 years of management experience from his work at UPS, Newgistics, Primo Water, and Outbox where he led the strategic growth for both large scale national solutions, as well as small first-to-market rollouts. He earned his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Industrial Engineering from Virginia Tech where he was also a member of the NCAA men's soccer team. Outside of work you’re likely to find Don enjoying his South Congress neighborhood or the Hike & Bike Trail at Lady Bird Lake with his wife Kristen and daughter Ellarose.

Scott Jensen, Co-Founder/President & CEO

Scott's love for food comes from his experience as former CEO and Co-Founder of Austin's own Stubb's BBQ. The lessons he learned there are serving him well in his newest role as CEO and Co-Founder of Rhythm Superfoods. Scott, a.k.a. Scotty J, is not only the business behind the brand but is also a firm believer and customer who has personally learned the health benefits of enjoying the company's products and lifestyle. A food connoisseur at heart, Scott loves to try new restaurants in his spare time (the little he has) and dreams to one day see Rhythm Superfoods products in every mainstream supermarket in the country.

Stephanie Marano, Field Marketing Associate

Stephanie joined the Rhythm Superfoods team with a background in Public Relations and an interest in the natural foods industry. Graduating from Colby College in 2014, Stephanie applies the innovative thinking and strong communication skills garnered from a liberal arts education in her current role as a Field Marketing Associate. Stephanie is excited to join Rhythm in their goal of promoting nutritious snacks and healthy lifestyle choices throughout the New England area. When not working, you can find Stephanie at the beach in the summer and shoveling feet of snow from her sidewalk in the winter (love that New England weather).

Nathan Poland, Director of R&D

Nathan brings 10 years of food science experience and his passion for human health and nutrition to Rhythm. He graduated from North Carolina State University with a B.S. in Food Science, and has work experience that includes product development for Kellogg's and Mars. Nathan is excited to develop superfood products to add to the Rhythm lineup. When not thinking about food, you can find him training for triathlons by swimming, biking, and running all around Austin.

Marshall Seedorff, Field Marketing Associate

Marshall joined Rhythm coming from two years of marketing experience with Chipotle Mexican Grill. Finding a passion for the natural foods industry, Marshall was drawn to Austin for the growing startup community, live music and great food. While competing as a two sport Division I athlete, Marshall received his bachelors and masters degrees in business from George Washington University in Washington, DC. Having competed in the 2012 Olympic Trials, Marshall still takes time to train in the pool and maintain the healthy lifestyle that is Rhythm. When not peddling delicious Rhythm chips across the Southwest, Marshall enjoys everything outdoors, live music and sports.

David Smith, Co-Founder & Board Member

David has been enjoying healthier food and beverage products in the natural foods industry for over 15 years.  Previously he co-founded Sweet Leaf Tea and was the former VP of Sales until Nestle acquired the company.  Over that time, David built a national sales team, brokerage network and distribution model that put Sweet Leaf in every major retailer in the US.  When David was introduced to Rhythm Superfoods, he knew the brand would end up leading the category.  David is a proud Longhorn who loves to sail and golf (you’ll find him on the course most Friday afternoons) and last year he sailed his family throughout the Caribbean for six months.

Kyle Sumner, Field Marketing Associate

Kyle joined the Rhythm team with over two years of marketing and merchandising experience. Previously working for Presence Marketing, he first delved into the natural foods world while still in college. Now a graduate with honors from CSU Monterey Bay, he is excited to bring Rhythm Superfoods to as many people as possible. Being the Northern California representative for Rhythm, Kyle promotes the company’s Austin lifestyle in the bustling Bay Area. When not working, Kyle loves to be outside, spend time with friends, and hang out with his French bulldog, Franklin.

Jeff Tusa, CFO

Jeff joined Rhythm as Chief Financial Officer in 2012 and is responsible for managing all financial aspects of the company.  He brings over ten years of operating, investing, and financial experience with consumer-oriented companies to Rhythm.  Previous positions to Rhythm include Hunt Private Equity Group, a private equity affiliate of the Ray L. Hunt family, and Stephens Inc.’s investment banking group.  Jeff began his career with PwC.  Jeff was drawn to Rhythm by its great products and stellar team.  When not enjoying kale, Jeff is either with his family or training for the Austin marathon.

Keith Wahrer, Co-Founder & Creative Director
As the original co-founder of Daily Juice Company in Austin, Texas, which he started in 2003, Keith, a.k.a. K Dub, is the creative force behind Rhythm Superfoods.  He brings over 16 years of professional culinary experience in the field of vegetarian, vegan and raw foods and is enthusiastic about and dedicated to creating nutrient-rich and ultra-healthy foods that are both delicious and practical. Keith’s passion for composing and producing music in his free time inspired the “rhythm” behind these superfoods and continues to nurture his excitement in developing the brand. He enjoys being active outdoors and can be found swimming at the local springs on a regular basis.

Allison White, Controller

Allison joined Rhythm Superfoods after an 11-year tenure as the Controller for the University Co-op, a non-profit affiliated with the University of Texas.  Her interest in the superfoods industry was sparked by the Co-op's opening of its own healthy foods market.  Prior to the Co-op, Allison worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers as a senior audit associate.  She is a die-hard Longhorn fan earning both a BBA and MPA from The University of Texas at Austin.  When not enjoying all things kale, Allison is golfing and spending time with her family.
